Can I install Light Blue on more than one machine?

Do you do group or student discounts?

I downloaded the trial but want some more time to have a look before I register. Can you extend my trial?

When I register, will I have to enter all the information I put in during the trial again?

I have v2.x or v1.x and want to try version 3. If, after taking a trial of v3, I want to go back to v2 or v1, can I transfer the data from v3 back to v2 or v1?

Where can I find previous versions of Light Blue?

Can I install Light Blue on more than one machine?
You can install the single-user version of Light Blue on one desktop machine and one laptop machine. They can't both be used at the same time (so, for example, you can't have someone else working on Light Blue on your laptop while you're working in it on your desktop). This is because of the terms in the licensing agreement from FileMaker, who make the software we used to develop Light Blue.

With the hosted version of Light Blue, we host your data (and look after your backups and updates for you) and you use copies of FileMaker Pro that we supply to connect to your data. If you want to have more than one person using your copy of Light Blue at the same time, you need to buy extra licences from us.

FileMaker's licence agreement allows you to install one copy of FileMaker Pro on both a desktop and a laptop machine, so long as you only use one at a time. So, if you only want to access your hosted copy of Light Blue from your desktop machine, laptop or iOS device and don't need anyone else to access it at the same time as you, you don't need to buy extra licences from us.

Do you do group or student discounts?
Yes - just get in touch with us and ask.

Sadly, we can't extend the trial for you. However, if you uninstall your current trial, download a new installer and reinstall Light Blue, you'll get another 30 days. You won't be able to import any data from your old trial into your new trial (otherwise people would keep taking trial after trial, and we'd not make any money!) but everything else will be the same.

No - that would be boring. When you register, you simply unlock the 30-day time restriction on the trial version.

No. We've made lots of changes 'under the hood' to the data file, and you can't import from v3 to an earlier version. (Of course, importing from v2 or v1 to v3 is fine.)

Where can I find previous versions of Light Blue?
If you're on v2.x of Light Blue, you can upgrade to v2.4 for free - download for Mac (PPC), Mac (Intel) or Windows. We updated this version in September 2011 to fix a bug in the Google Calendar publishing routines and to add Mac OS X Lion compatibility. Please note that this is a legacy version - we're not updating v2.x any more, because we've released v3.

If you're on v1.x of Light Blue, you can upgrade to v1.5.2 for free - download for Mac (PPC), Mac (Intel) or Windows. Again, please note that this is a legacy version - we're not updating v1.x any more, because we've released v3.
